A bit about Laura de Castro:
Laura is a graduate of Norcross High School (she was her class valedictorian) and Georgia Tech (with a BS in Management, graduated with highest honors). She also earned a certificate in technical communications at Georgia Tech.
Laura is a UU. She is presently the president of the UU Congregation of Atlanta and this is her fourth and final year on that board (her term ends in May). At UUCA, she also served as an interim Children & Youth director and developed the “Home Links – A Guide for Parents” that summarizes the lessons for UUCA’s Children and Youth RE program. It is a database system that makes it easy to share information with parents weekly.
Laura has strong database and computer skills that will be a huge asset to us. She looks forward to working with Ada, the RE Council and the Church Council to further our communications work.
Roles of the Church Administrator
In this part-time position, the Church Administrator is responsible for organizing and conducting the administrative duties of the church for Sunday services and religious education. She is also responsible for operations, and facilitating smooth communications between committees and the membership. The Administrator will serve as the primary contact with the church to outside inquiries; she will also be the central point of communication between functional areas and with our membership and friends. The Administrator will use and manage the new website, www.uucg.org, as a key communication tool to hold and promote news, announcements, and a calendar of events. This position works most frequently with the Minister, Religious Education Council chair, and the Officers of the Board of Trustees. This position reports directly to the President for employment purposes until a settled minister is called by the congregation.
We are most fortunate to have such an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate professional join us. Welcome, Laura! |
