The Welcoming Congregation Program is a volunteer program for Unitarian Universalist congregations that want to take intentional steps to become more welcoming and inclusive of people with marginalized sexual orientations and gender identities. This program was first launched by the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association) in 1990, and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Gwinnett was recognized as a Welcoming Congregation in the spring of 2014.

This initiative was carried out at UUCG by a Welcoming Congregation Coordinating Team to establish an ongoing focus on LGBT issues in our congregational life. We continue to learn and develop our understanding of how to be more welcoming and inclusive of people who identify along all aspects of the continuums of gender identity and sexual orientation.
