Welcome to the 2018-2019 Program Year!

WELCOME TO THE UUCG 2018-2019 FAITH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM YEAR:
LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK!

In Christiana McQuain’s recent installation as our Coordinator of Family Ministry, Rev. Taddeo referenced a quote from Connie Goodbread, a long-time UU religious educator:

Faith development is all we do,
Unitarian Universalism is all we teach,
The congregation is the curriculum.

Let me offer a perspective.

Faith development is all we do as we live our lives.  It happens when we are interacting with each other and the greater world.  It can be found in how we treat ourselves and each other; it is our expression of how we want the world to be.  As Unitarian Universalists, we get to choose which road we wish to travel as we move toward understanding our faith.  As Unitarian Universalists, we expand our understanding every day.  With every breath.  Every time your life speaks with action.

Here, at UUCG, Unitarian Universalism is all we teach.  We teach the Unitarian Universalist way to be in the world.  We teach all ages how to approach the challenges we encounter with a Unitarian Universalist open mind and loving heart.  We teach it in committee meetings, covenant groups, choir practice, and coffee hour.

And you, the congregation, are the curriculum.  You are the living lessons from which we can all learn.

So this year, let your life speak at the 10 o’clock hour programs and classes that are offered every Sunday.  There is no better way to learn something than when you share it with others.  Christiana McQuain will find you a place to contribute to our community, to add your part to the creation of a Unitarian Universalist world.  Tell her you are here to help.
