Is Compassion the Antidote to Aversion?

When we want to push someone or something harmful or undesired away, our feeling of aversion usually erupts in anger, hatred, fear, or rejection. Yet in Buddhism, aversion itself is a cause of human suffering. Its opposite is the practice of loving-kindness. As we cultivate compassion this month, let’s explore what orientation toward our current realities can give us the most oomph for healthy, effective resistance.

Resisting Fascism Team

Resisting fascism begins, not with bombastic words, but with small, concrete, compassionate, empowering deeds. This Team can help you identify these actions and begin taking them. We will provide UUCG members with a menu of actionable opportunities for folks to select from based on their individual comfort levels, issues of choice, skill sets, and passions. Our prophetic witness has never been needed more urgently. Working and learning together, we can forge a path where there appears to be no way.

Mindfulness and Meditation
Two Hands Sangha is a Buddhist Meditation Community which meets to train the heart and mind to respond to life with mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion. Join us each week as we connect to explore the ways in which these teachings can be applied to your daily life to help alleviate suffering of all kinds. All are welcome, regardless of your level of experience.
